Treatment approach:
I have had training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), and family systems therapy.
My overall approach is solution-focused. Sometimes clients tell me that prior therapists “just listened” and never actively guided them toward any kind of change. In contrast, I view therapy as a productive, goal-oriented conversation—providing feedback, asking reflective questions, and making practical suggestions to use on a daily basis. I want you to leave each session feeling as if you’ve learned something new.
My focus is helping you develop permanent strategies to use in your life and your relationships.
When working with young children, we may work together with parents in order to develop an action plan to use between sessions. Other times I may work with parents alone to help them develop strategies to use with their children.
